The death of a County Court juror Thursday night followed by minutes a report to Judge J. Richmond Page of “a verdict that was not easily reached,” fellow jurors said today.
Avitus J. Heysel, 67, of 189 Herkimer St., collapsed in a County Hall telephone booth 15 minutes after the jury was dismissed.
Mr. Heysel collapsed while talking to his wife, Laura, about a ride home. A Fire Department rescue squad was unable to revive him. Medical Examiner Edward R. Egan said death was due to natural causes.
Charles A. Riebel, 70 Tremont Ave., Kenmore, the jury foreman, said Mr. Seysel “took an active part in the deliberations.”
The jury was out six hours—including an hour and three quarters for dinner—before convicting James Houston, 32, of Ada Pl., on two counts of narcotics sales. The verdict was returned at 11:30 PM.
