A picture of the Lockwood Memorial Library, University of Buffalo, will be on the cover of the 1959-60 Buffalo metropolitan area telephone directory — a sign of the New York Telephone Co’s desire to make the book attractive as well as utilitarian.
“It’s an innovation,” Jack E. Clark, general manager, said today.
“We thought that since so many persons have the directory in their living rooms and offices, it would be worthwhile to make it more attractive with a picture of something people are proud of locally.”
He said the delivery of the new book to 475,000 telephone users will begin Sept. 28.
